Vicoprofen

Vicoprofen was approved by the Federal Drug Administration in 1997 as a prescription pain medication that can help treat mild to moderate pain relief. Vicoprofen is made up of a combination between an opioid analgesic (which is a form of hydrocodone that is a type of pain reliever that is related to narcotics) and a form of a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug. Both are used to treat pain. It is believed that one tablet of Vicoprofen is as effective as two tablets of Tylenol 3.

Preparation Of Vicoprofen

Vicoprofen is available in both generic and brand name as a prescription drug. It is prepared as a hydrocodone tablet of 7.5 mg and ibuprofen of 200 mg. Vicoprofen should be stored at room temperature, ideally between 59 and 86 degrees Fahrenheit. As for dosage levels, Vicoprofen is most commonly taken every four to six hours or as needed for pain relief. The manufacturer of Vicoprofen recommends not exceeding the maximum five tablets per day.

Drug Interactions To Watch Out For

There are several drug interactions that should be taken into consideration when taking Vicoprofen. Vicoprofen contains hydrocodene, a powerful narcotic pain reliever that can interact with many other drugs and medications, including barbiturates, alcohol, skeletal muscle relaxants, carisoprodol (otherwise known as Soma), benzodiazepine drugs, and cyclobenzaprine (such as Flexeril).
