Sinemet

Sinemet is one of the most popular medications use to treat the symptoms of Parkinson's disease. Sinemet is most commonly prescribed to Parkinson's disease patients or patients suffering from symptoms that are similar to those suffered by patients who have been diagnosed with Parkinson's. How Is Sinemet Administered?

Sinemet is administered in an orally disintegrating tablet. It is an extended-release type tablet that is consumed by the patient three or four times a day. The medication should be taken at roughly the same time each day. You should take the medication exactly as described on the prescription. The sinemet tablet should only be taken whole and the patient should not try to chew, split or crush the sinemet tablets. No water is necessary in order to take the sinemet tablets. They simply should be placed in the mouth and allowed to dissolve and swallowed with saliva. Dosages of sinemet are usually gradually increased after a few months of use.

What Are Some Side Effects Of Sinemet?

There are many recorded side effects that can result from the use of sinemet. Some side effects that may result from sinemet include nausea, dizziness, loss of appetite, vomiting, dry mouth, nervousness, constipation, nightmares, weakness, headaches, confusion, forgetfulness, drowsiness, and increased sweating. You may also expect side effects from sinemet withdrawal, including rigid muscles, confusion, fever, strange body movements, and rigid movements. If you experience any of these side effects of sinemet, make sure to report any of these symptoms to your doctor.

Other Uses For Sinemet

There have also been many other uses for Sinemet, although many of these are not necessarily approved. The sinemet drug has also been used for restless leg syndrome, although the mechanism of action of sinemet has not been approved for these uses. Sinemet unapproved uses such as prescribing it for restless leg syndrome or if a baby took a sinemet tablet are not approved.
