Motrin

Pain, pain and yet more pain. That is the cry of America today. Americans are sicker than ever and in more pain than ever before. Why is this you ask? With all of the drugs aimed at making us feel better and younger, what is the problem? The problem is quite simple actually; the drug company’s goal is mask symptoms not fix the underlying problem. The history of motrin, generically ibuprofen, and other pain killers like it is rich in profit at the expense of the patients that consume it.

Motrin use and abuse has been a problem for years. Although Tylenol and motrin dosing charts are available for consumers, it appears that far too many people neglect to use them. So, what is so dangerous about ibuprofen? After all, weren’t motrin cold and sinus, children’s motrin and other motrin variations created to help people? Let’s dig in deeper to what motrin is, what it can do for you and why it can be downright dangerous.

Ibuprofen is a NSAID, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug. It works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body. It’s most common uses include fever, headache, toothache, back pain, arthritis, menstrual cramps and other minor injuries. Motrin and other forms of ibuprofen have been linked to an increased risk of circulation problems, heart attack and stroke with prolonged use. It has also been shown to increase the risk of gastrointestinal problems such as bleeding or perforation of the stomach and intestines. Consuming alcohol while using motrin can increase the risks. Therefore, the drug companies advise you not consume any form of ibuprofen including motrin, if you have a history of heart attack, stroke or blood clots, bleeding disorders, heart disease, high blood pressure, asthma, polyps in your nose, liver or kidney disease, SLE, or if you smoke.

While motrin and other forms of ibuprofen do often take care of the pain and or fever, the effects may outweigh their benefits. One of the biggest problems with motrin and other forms of ibuprofen, acetaminophen and other over the counter drugs is that they are so easily available at your local grocer or online. If you compare motrin prices, you will see that they are virtually the same everywhere, cheap. Teens and young adults can even go online and purchase motrin, pay extra for next day or overnight delivery without parents even knowing about it. It is happening more and more. Moreover, medications like motrin are very easy to overdose on. Motrin for example, is not meant to be taken by adults more than four times daily, or up to 3200mg per day, even less for children. That may sound like a lot, but the problem is that patients that have been on say 800mg doses for an extended period of time find that it is not as effective as when they first started taking it. Therefore, they take more than recommended to get the affect they want. This can be very dangerous.
