You can have other tests done that may show that your kidneys are not working well. Today we know that the disease strikes in two forms. The more severe form is Legionnaires’ disease, which is accompanied by pneumonia, and the milder form is Pontiac fever. Between 8,000 and 18,000 people contract Legionnaires’ disease each year. Of those people, about 20 percent of those people die, making it critical to diagnose and treat this disease as early as possible.
