Celexa is, indeed, an antidepressant. It belongs to a group that doctors call selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs. Discussing It With Your Doctor

Before you ever start on your Celexa, you should make sure you have informed your doctor of any medical disorders or conditions you may have. You should be especially sure to mention if you have any of the following: liver or kidney problems, epilepsy or other seizure disorders, bipolar disorder, or if you have a history of either suicidal thoughts or drug abuse. These may prevent your from taking Celexa, or you may need your dosage adjusted.

Additionally, Celexa can be addicting, so talk with your doctor about Celexa withdrawal symptoms if you go off or other types of withdrawal from Celexa.

Celexa Side Effects

There are a number of side effects Celexa may present. If you experience seizure, tremors or shaking, balance issues, or agitation, confusion, or fast heartbeat, then you should talk with a doctor right away.

On the other hand, there are some more common side effects that are considered to be a lot less serious. IF you experience nervousness, insomnia, gas, upset stomach, changes in weight, more urination, sex drive decrease, sexual dysfunction, or dry mouth then you may just have to work through it. You can contact your doctor if anything becomes too serious.
